Bowling

The last couple of weeks have been very rainy. Amanda and Caleb were starting to feel too cooped up in the apartment and needed to get out. We were going to go to the aquarium but Caleb wound up having a fever. A couple days later we went bowling since the Wilk has $1 games per person on Monday nights.

Here is Caleb bowling a pretty good frame:

Here is the final score. Amanda beat us both by a long shot. Caleb did pretty well for a little tyke.

After bowling we went to the BYU Creamery for some ice-cream.
Caleb and Amanda both got cones.

I got a hot fudge sundae.

Looks like Caleb is ready to get washed up.

All in all it was a much needed, out of the house fun evening. I think we will do this more often.

Our Birthday Boy!

The highlight reel:

The night before...

Good morning surprise

My FAVORITE birthday photo

Family phone calls

The outdoors test drive
Cake time! (It's the man with the yellow hat's hat...
miniaturized since there are only three of us.)

Painting

Caleb's favorite pass-time happens to be a very convenient thing if you're too sick to stand. And boy did he have one creative week!

At first we just did regular finger...and body...painting.

Next, the homemade trumpet!

And then we decorated his birthday wrapping paper!

It's hard dealing with these puppy dog eyes when it's time to clean up.

Travelling

We were only able to attend two of the basketball games this season. But, we made it to that last home game! Even though we arrived an hour before the game started, the only available student seating left were a few benches directly behind the camera crew. Todd and I could only see if we stood on our bleacher. And Caleb, well, that wasn't good enough for him I guess. Let's just say that this wouldn't have happened if we weren't at BYU, 'cause I have no idea who these people are!

It all started with Caleb tugging on the jeans of a young man sitting next to us. After that, someone else was holding Caleb or sharing a cool new toy with him each time I looked! Being the paranoid mother that I am, I ended up spending more time supervising Caleb's escapade than watching the game. But at least we won! Right?

And Caleb came home with us...which personally, I think is the more important fact.

Snowy days are here again

Snowy day 1: Todd was a little disgruntled when leaving work Friday morning. He took this picture with his phone, just to make sure I knew he was exaggerating...(it's 6 inches of snow on top of the car).
So after breakfast, Caleb and I donned our snow gear and hit the great...well, the suburban outdoors!

What do you do with a snowman your own height?

Knock it's head off of course.

Then, we finished off the whole adventure with a no-bake cookie and warm cocoa!

Snowy day 2 (today): Most of yesterday's snow had melted by about noon. But we were graced with another inch or so this morning. Naturally, we repeated the fun.

Only this time it was even better cause Daddy came to join us! Thus, a snow ball fight was inevitable...

And once more, warm cocoa and animal cookies!

Renting...

One problem with renting, rather than owning your home, is that you don't feel the need to actually own tools...

Well, we were having a big problem with heating Caleb's room. The caulk around the window swamp cooler (a permanent fixture) had disintegrated. Consequently, cold air was constantly blowing in despite our duck tape and cardboard.

I went to a hardware store and bought a big tube of caulking. However, I didn't realize you had to have a caulking gun for the big tube to work...so trusty Todd made do with what was around the apartment. (I guess a trip back to the hardware store just wasn't worth it...?)

Please notice that he is pushing the caulk out of the tube with one of my vacuum extensions. And he stuck one of Caleb's large books under his shirt to push the tube against. This lovely solution resulted in a nice hole in his shirt.

Despite the equipment handicaps, Todd did a good repair job.

The Dangers of Parroting

Last Thursday while walking down a frozen foods isle in Macey's...

Caleb (hiding in the car-cart calmly chanting):"Hi baby. Hey baby."

Me: "Hey baby."

3 random men perusing the ice cream selection look up.

Me (suddenly walking quickly): "Caleb, what comes after 1?"
